Dr. Matt Friez:
Diagnosing and
Treating the Problems
in Midland ISD
Let's Elevate Midland!
Meet Dr. Friez
A triple board-certified doctor and devoted community leader, Dr. Matt Friez has dedicated his life to serving those around him.
After attending public school through his senior year of high school, Dr. Friez went on to earn a Bachelor’s in physics from Baylor University and graduated from the UT Houston Health Science Center. Dr. Friez directs five medical labs, delivering world class, diagnostic medicine to West Texas communities.
During his family’s 14 years in Midland, Dr. Friez has been an active member in the community. His passion for serving the next generation is evident through his coaching of Upwards Basketball and little league baseball and serving as a Sunday school teacher.
Dr. Friez and his wife, Tara, have made Midland their home and the home of their children. After several years in the Midland public school system, the Friezes were incredibly disappointed in the quality of education some of their children were receiving. Dr. Friez is running for the MISD Board of Trustees to restore excellence in education and give every child the skills and foundation they need to pursue their dreams.
Dr. Friez's priorities
The current Midland ISD Board has failed to provide our children with an excellent, or in many cases an adequate, education. Our children should be challenged and inspired at school every day, yet we are seeing largely the opposite. We must ensure that every student receives a solid foundation, rooted in the basics, that they can build from in college, trade school, the military, or the work force. Midland students should have the ability to pursue any dream they have after graduation!
Improving Student Outcomes
Our teachers are on the front lines when it comes to preparing our children for their futures. We must ensure that teachers have the resources they need to help every student reach the high standards that we set. Without the necessary resources, we cannot expect to hire and retain the best teachers who can help our children reach their highest potential.
Supporting Teachers
Creating Safe and Orderly Classrooms
Ensuring a safe and orderly classroom environment is essential for students to thrive academically. I am dedicated to fostering an atmosphere in our schools where students and administrators are empowered with the tools they need to maintain focus and respect. With consistent policies and strong leadership, we can create classrooms that allow all students to excel in a secure and attentive environment.
